Debussy's Footprints Of The Snow By Remo Giazoto

Next work played by the Ensemble was the famous Adagio in G minor, concluding their peformance. There’s quite a controversy arround this work, concerning it’s true author. Remo Giazotto, who’s name is in the title of the work on the program, XX century musicologist, is believed to be the author, but according to him, he simply arranged the musical ideas composed by Tomaso Albioni, late Baroque composer. It seems like people responsible for making this program agreed with him. Nevertheless, this single-movement work is as beautiful as it is famous. It conveys a calm, serene mood of a picturesque paysage, similar to that of Debussy’s Footprints in the Snow. I enjoy this piece a lot and it was a real pleasure to hear it performed live. I am convinced,

Reading this short fiction story for the first time had me confused, until I read it the second time that’s when my eyes were wide open and surprised how Calixta and her ex-lover got away with having sex without their wife or husband finding out. I think this short story relates to how cheating and having hidden affairs still happens now in modern life, thus the characters kept the plot of the story on my edge of my seat. I was thinking her husband Bobinot and their son Bibi were going to catch her and her ex-lover on the scene while having intercourse.…

Love and sacrifice are bind together, he who sacrifices does not expect something in return, but the mere knowledge that his loved ones are protected. This is essentially what the poem Those Winter Sunday’s by Robert Hayden is centered around. Robert Hayden introduces the audience to a father and child relationship. The child is looking back to his childhood days, and only now as an adult does he realize just how much his father did for him, and how ungrateful he was not to realize it then. The reader sees the understanding or regret that the now adult feels, as he realizes what the child version of himself could not.…

I intend to write an essay concerning the third movement of Luciano Berio’s Symphony. The Symphony was commissioned by the New York Philharmonic in commemoration of its 125th anniversary and was premiered in the following year. The fifth movement was added to the work after the first performance, and was premiered in 1970. Inspired by Gustav Mahler and Charles Yves, Berio creates the third movement as a great collage, quoting fragments of diverse musical works. These fragments erupt from the third movement of Mahler’s 2nd Symphony, which is used as a carrier wave.…

Debussy, born Claude Achille Debussy at Saint Germain-en-Laye, France on August 22, 1862, was a profound composer of the twentieth century. This piece has “characteristics of classic sonata form, and is similar in energy and length to such concert overtures as Shostakovich’s Festival Overture.” As with a typical sonata form, the piece is broken down into five main sections. The first introductory section features the opening horn fanfare and a full ensemble crescendo into the exposition. Starting at measure four, the first theme is articulated with tutti figures thru many different instruments. Immediately following that in measure twelve, we hear the inversion of that melody in the clarinets and alto saxophone. The inversion is then repeated in the upper woodwinds and in the cornet.…

The orchestra consisted of instruments such as violins, violas, cellos, and flutes, that helped create an allegro moderato orchestral introduction. This being Mozart’s first Violin Concerto, it is very important that he begins his work in this way, showing progression in his creative career. It demonstrates the transaction between some of his first piano concertos, to his new development of mastering the art of the violin. This charming and energetic introduction then leads to the adagio movement; a slower flow. Hsuan-…
