Walking into the gallery was a little scary for me at first. I got chills from hearing the recording playing with the lady reading off the meal requests. I was confused and lost since I did not know very much going into the room. One focal point that grabbed my attention was the images of the plates portrayed with a projector into the wall. The second plate that captured my eyes had the blue primary hue, like most plates at the gallery, all over the plate. It had the date written in the bottom, “20 OCT 2011,” and had just some of the most ordinary food items. Biggest in the plate was a sandwich, then a Reese’s chocolate bar, some goldfish, a Sunkist drink, and a glass that I assumed had the soda in there painted with the technique of chiaroscuro that allowed me and others to see the glass as a three-dimensional figure. The next plate I saw caught my eye for two different reason. One, being that the plate itself has some texture different than most of the plates. Two, it was mostly empty yet the texture of the grapes and pears surrounded by leaves made it not look so empty. This inmate requested to have shrimp, yet they told him none was available. He had to change his request last minute to just vending machine
