The death penalty has been around since 1608, with the first execution was in Jamestown Virginia. The death penalty has been a huge controversy within the United States of America ever since it started. “Thirty-eight states and the federal government currently authorize the use of the death penalty”. (Foley, Michael) Many people are for it, but then there is the ones that oppose to having a death penalty. I am all about the death penalty, but there should be strict guidelines for someone that is chosen to be put to death.
