Willy at a young age thought that he could be a successful salesman because of all the things that he has seen happened to other great people. For example, Willy seeing his Uncle Ben going to one place and coming out another with lots of money. Willy was so fascinated on the great work Ben was doing he thought that he can achieve the same things that Ben has gained or even better. Willy thought that if he went with Ben to Alaska “everything would’ve been totally different”( Miller 45). However, in Willy thinking of he would have been rich if he went with Willy he forgets the steps onto to how to become a successful salesman as “instead of approaching the profession in the manner of one who understands the demands of the business world” (27) Willy instead only thinks that a person in a business world will only sell a ton if they are well liked and he believed that in Alaska he would have been well …show more content…
Willy relies too much on the “American dream”(25) that causes Biff in being lost and not able to experience his goals in terms of what he wants to be which is working on out on the field. Willy controlled Biff’s life and told him that because his is well liked and attractive he will make it far in becoming a salesman. However, being a salesman is not what Biff wants to do with his life. This was rather Willy’s dream. And so, since Willy was never successful himself he wanted his dreams to be seen by Biff’s and happy’s life. Therefore Willy was unaware that he failed by trying to create a life that was not real. Willy forgets to
