During the classical age, empires and dynasties conquered many large territories. These empires and dynasties included the Roman Empire and the Han Dynasty. In a result of expanding their territories, the Roman Empire and the Han Dynasty had wealth and power. All goods must come to an end, as these empires and dynasties suffered a disastrous collapse. The collapse of the Roman Empire and the Han Dynasty were more similar than different because their collapse were caused by internal problems within the government and their lack of beliefs in their leaders. There were many reasons why the Roman Empire collapsed. According to the pie chart on document 3, a majority of Roman emperors were assassinated. If emperors were being assassinated, the empire wouldn’t have a leader to keep the empire strong and standing. According to document 5, “Politically, the central government’s control diminished, bureaucrats became more corrupt, and the local landlords took up much of their own wishes.” This shows that the government became too corrupt. With a corrupt government, the empire could face problems. Such as, unequal rights and population decrease. Also, after the Han Dynasty crushed the Xiongnu state, their government was fatally destabilized. With their government destabilized, this contributed to the decline of the Han Dynasty. Lastly, another reason why the Han Dynasty collapsed was because many people lost their farms. As stated in document 5, “Many lost their farms and became day laborers on the large estates...chinese population growth and prosperity both spiraled further downward.” This shows that without farms, people would have o way to earn money.
