Influential leader-UPS CEO Current UPS CEO and chairman, David Abney, is an influential leader that leads by example and believes hard work brings positive results. “Abney started his UPS in 1974 as a part-time package loader and held various operational positions while climbing the rungs of the corporate ladder over his 40-year career” (Pressroom UPS Leadership, n.d.). Prior to being appointed CEO in 2014, David held the COO position since 2007, where he managed the sustainable logistics, transportation, and other practices of the UPS global network. Through this style of leadership, Gray has been able to influence a team of 345,000 team members that pick-up and deliver more than 15 million packages each day within the U.S. (Pressroom UPS Leadership, n.d.).
