Dark matter makes up roughly 23% of the universe, and is thought to be the cause of its expansion. Dark matter was first proposed by Swiss astronomer, Fritz Zwicky when he noted that galaxies are flying away to fast. He noticed that galaxies are flying away to fast that they should fly apart, dissolve under Newtonian Laws of Motion. He thought the coma cluster may be saved if it were 100x more matter than you can see. Theres two possibilities left. Newton was wrong or something was missing. It was hard for other astronomers to believe him, they thought that Newtonian Laws were correct as they were dominate in physics at the time, when he died in 1947 he published "A reminder to the High Priests of American Astronomy and to their Sycophants". …show more content…
She concluded that the galaxy had to be 10x heavier to remain stable according to Newtons Laws. She again was ignored mainly because she was a woman. Later on she slowly started to convince other astronomers after her and her colleagues examined 11 other galaxies and found them to be spinning to fast that they should fly apart. The easy solution was that the galaxies were surrounded by an invisible matter halo that contained 10x than the stars. Since dark matter has enormous mass the way to prove it was to watch light bending. By carefully analyzing photos from the Hubble Space Telescope with computers they could make maps of dark matter throughout the universe. Since then a scramble has been going on to find out what dark matter is. Some think its like ordinary matter, but very dim or maybe made out of brown dwarfs, neutron stars, or black holes which are nearly invisible. Some think that it consists of nonbaryonic matter, like neutrinos (considered hot dark matter) since they move so fast (almost light speed) they can't account for most of the clumping of dark matter and galaxies. At the beginning the universe expanding faster than light, at a factor of 10^50. As I said the universe expanded faster than light, this is possible because in the phrase "nothing can go faster than light", nothing is a noun and refers to the universe at the time, which was essentially nothing. With this fast expansion theres areas of the universe we can never get to or see.

The way we've tried to prove dark matters was with three satellites each connected by a laser and since dark matter has enormous gravity if it acted on it the laser system will be broken and its existence will be shown. You can't hold dark matter or contain it, because it'll go through normal as I discussed above on the neutrinos. I think the only way to find is to observe indirectly, it worked well for black holes by light bending same should work for dark matter, observe the bending of light or warping of space.

To observe indirectly means you will have to look at something else to observe what you want to see. With the black hole scenario scientist looked at the bending of space, binary systems, and light bending into a black oblivion or position change to pinpoint the position of a black hole. Same can be done with dark matter look at the bending of light how other galaxies act this will prove dark matter
