Dan's Pizzeria Analysis

Dan’s Pizzeria embodies the characteristics of a situation comedy. The overall premise of the story including the background of Dan’s Pizzeria with the exaggerated death of the Dansanzo father entertains the audience with humor. This film is purely “escapist entertainment” meaning it provides the audience with a brief escape from their everyday lives. The audience receives the opportunity to enter the world of Dan’s Pizzeria and experience joy and laughter through this comedic film. Tony and Vinny’s attempts to obtain the best pizzeria in the world and the complications they encounter produce laughter from the audience. This is why plot falls into the position of primary in the elements of drama. The hilarious characters of Dan’s Pizzeria entertain …show more content…
To ensure the authenticity of the Italian heritage of Dan’s Pizzeria and provide humor the Dansanzo brothers have an extreme emphasis on being Italian. Throughout the film, the brothers have a strong connection with their mother and use language to show they’re Italian by referring to her as Mama. Their mother has a strong connection to the foundation and success of Dan’s Pizzeria just like a mother is the foundation of a classic Italian family. Also the general appearance of the Dansanzo brothers, black hair all over and large from eating plenty of Mama’s cooking, further emphasizes the Italian in them. The beginning of the film shows the importance of Mama to Tony with him staring at the photo of their grand opening. The blanket the Dansanzo brothers use is, of course, an Italian flag. Within the first minute of the film, the audience realizes that the brothers are Italian but then by further exaggerating how Italian they are and falling into many stereotypes adds a bit more fantasy into the mix for the sake of humor. While the overall place of Dan’s Pizzeria is quite lifelike, the action of Vinny brushing his teeth with pesto toothpaste bring the film back down the scale to being in between absolutely real and fantasy. Also, the gruesome exaggerated action of the father’s death strays from realism to arouse joy in being so …show more content…
The main motivation behind the health inspector was a combination of a few movies and tv shows I’ve enjoyed. The first major influence was the movie Ratatouille. While there were no health inspectors in this movie, I took the theme of destroying someone’s dream for one’s own personal gain. This movie has a chef who loses his job to a new chef then attempts to regain his job by making the new chef fail. I added to this concept with another food-related film, the tv show Bob’s Burgers. This show contains health inspectors that have a personal vendetta against Bob causing them to want to shut down his restaurant. Combining concepts from these two humorous restaurant related movies/tv shows I formulated the health inspector antagonist with a plot for revenge. The Italian nature of the characters came from my mother’s background. She had a mostly Italian mother that exposed me to Italian-American lifestyle. For the humor of the film I just drew from ideas that I found funny and comedies I

David Zinczenko uses his personal childhood experiences as a form of pathos to capture the audience. He begins by describing how the separation between his father and mother left him with no dinner selections besides Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. David Zinczenko approaches the theme with sarcasm and humor, but as he continues to discuss his position on the topic; he becomes serious and passionate. For example, David says “I tend to sympathize with these portly fast-food patrons, though. Maybe that's because I used to be one of them.”…

After the quality of the food is considered, the next logical thing to look at is how it is being served. The service is another important factor when eating out because it sets the stage of how the meal will go. If the employees are rude or disrespectful it will ruin the rest of the night because even after the issue is solved the customer will still be fuming after the encounter. On the other hand if the service is wonderful the customer can then focus on the quality of the food. It is already clear that Chick-fil-A’s food is excellent, so it is important to analyze their service to see if it is up to par with similar restaurants and if it is unique.…

In Carol McKibben's Beyond Cannery Row, which analyzes the processes of migration and settlement of Sicilian, they came to Monterey because of the opportunities happening in the fishery industry. “Sicilian fishing community in Monterey valued hard work, sobriety, thrift, and family, which conformed to traditional American middle-class values (McKibben, Beyond Cannery Row, 101).” In their assimilation into Monterey’s society, Sicilian women were viewed as the decision makers and as the backbone of the community. “Italian women found opportunities to express their ethnicity through celebration, mainly through food prepared during holidays. Their cooking and baking skills made them "authentic" in the eyes of family and community in important ways (McKibben, Beyond Cannery Row, 99).”…

After mentioning to Hans and Johnny of Tawney's Restaurant that I previously worked at the Menzies and Chelsea Restaurants in Sydney, I started that night, after just a week in Cairns. Suffering from the lavish expenditure of those bosses, the restaurant hired organist Les Dixon on weekends to pick up sales. Les played and drank, and just after 10, boyfriend Johnny Bond arrived, dragging along everyone from the Marlin Bar. This largely gay clientele drank the bar dry, yet the takings never improved and Hans and Johnny left. A new manager, uncultivated and ill-mannered, accused the bar staff of not charging the gays for their drinks.…
