Daisy and Myrtle were alike in more than one way; they both seemed to be with Tom for his money. Daisy married Tom because of his wealthy background and Myrtle became Tom’s mistress also because of his wealth. Both Myrtle and Daisy were not satisfied with who they were married to. The reasons being Myrtle married George because she thought he was an honest man and Daisy married Tom because he came from old money and was able to provide for her and the lifestyle she was accustomed to. Similarly, even though they were with Tom only for his money they allowed him to abuse them in different forms. Daisy was verbally and emotionally abused by Tom, while Myrtle was physically and quite surely verbally abused by him also. Also a significant quality they shared was that they were both carrying on affairs. Daisy was having an affair with Gatsby such as Myrtle was having an affair with Tom. In conclusion, Daisy and Myrtle are both dissimilar and yet comparable to one another in a few ways. With them being so different when it came to their outside appearances and their class level. Myrtle coming from the lower class and being chubby, while Daisy came from a higher class and had a more slender figure to her.
