Mexican War
It wasn’t easy. This event put up a fight between America and Mexico. While many fought, others died. In 1846-1848,( “In 1846 the United States went to war with Mexico.”, Overview) the Mexican War occurred just above Mexico and just below Texas,(“Congress of Texas… had declared the Rio del Norte to be the boundary of that republic”,Doc B, p2). The Alamo, the Trails West, and the Texas Revolution all led up to this war.(COUNT)Mexico was the one who actually went on American land, but America did much more. The United States was not ready to go to war with Mexico. They never got the chance to see exactly how strong Mexico was. (THESIS)They were unjustified in going to war with Mexico because of broken laws, robbery, and them attacking Mexico.
One reason that the Mexican War was unjustified was because of broken laws. In document D, it states that they broke the law of slavery (“Slaveholders crossed the Sabine river with their slaves, in defiance of the Mexican ordinance of freedom”, Doc D, p3). They broke this law by bringing in their slaves, and didn’t get rid of them. This infuriated the Mexican Colonists. Another law that they broke was territorial robbery,(”Might justly charge our citizens …show more content…
In document C is says that America attacked Mexico. In Document C, El Tiempo said that,( “The American government acted like a bandit who came upon a traveler”,Doc C, p 4). It also says, (“United States in April 1844, it… would consider such an act, ‘declaration of war’”, Doc C, p 2). This must mean that America wanted to go to attack Mexico. This evidence shows the US was unjustified in going to war with Mexico because, America did not really give Mexico a chance to fight.
