Bus D1 Students are Consistently Delayed

On Tuesday September 26th, Deeya Patel’s bus driver mistakenly took a wrong between 3:15 and 3:30 and ended up on Route 206.

As a new bus driver, Gina has been taking a different route almost everyday. As a result, Deeya Patel and many others shared a confused look. Was Gina taking a different route because she wanted to see the fastest way or was it hard for her to memorize the given route? As students at Hillsborough Middle School, they weren’t sure if the given routes were mandatory to follow and received as a way to reduce traffic.

Sitting on the bus, Deeya peered through the obscure, dusty window as the bus driver took a right at the intersection, New Amwell Road and Route 206.

The bus had been stuck in traffic, and every student would be delayed 5-10 minutes arriving home. Earlier in the week, East Mountain Road, a road off of 206, began construction. It had pot holes, and various cracks that added to the rollercoaster feeling when driven on. At the same time as being thankful for the newly repaved road, many residents of Hillsborough were frustrated. Parents would have to find another way to drive to work. Students would arrive late to school or dropped off late. Displeasure was the feeling visited to each person during the duration of erecting the road. Gina had apologized to the children as they departed the bus and rushed home to finish their heavy loads of homework: “Sorry for getting you guys home late. Have a good day.”

Wednesday came, and a sigh of relief and gratefulness passed when an announcement was made 9th period. The speakers blared, “For those who are concerned, East Mountain Road’s construction has been concluded.”

“Yes! The announcement was meant for me,” Deeya rejoiced. Even if Gina goes a different way, Deeya would come home near the same time. Not to mention Gina becomes perfect in one and only one route. She needed to be resolute to follow the map, instead of hesitant at every
