Cyber Blue 234: Team Analysis

Decent Essays
I am a member of PMHS's robotics team, Cyber Blue 234. We had 6 weeks to build a robot that that needed to effectively address this year's game challenge. When tackling this problem, we made a few costly assumptions. Because of this, failure was inevitable. Therefore we performed poorly at our first robotics competition. Greif, anguish, humiliation: these emotions ran through me and my team. Instead of giving up, we learned from our failure and used the experience as a motivator for improving our robot. Due to this adversity, I experienced and dealt with failure; moreover, I learned the importance of understanding a problem before tackling it. The concept of mechanical or artificial machines have existed since ancient times. We are at dawn of the age of robots, we have only created machines that are capable of holding a drill, opening a door, or going up stairs. But I have successfully created the most technological and innovative robotic design which are comprised of hundreds of microbots guided by a main robot. This mechanical agent has a instant stream of communication from human brain to robot, unrestricted design (capable of forming any shape), and applicability in any given field.…

Their project, call TERMES, is a simple robot that functions independently of all other robots in the vicinity, Figure 2 (Nagpal, Radhika). It does not care if it is the only robot or if there are 300 of them working on a project because it builds independently without any communication entering or leaving that robot. Using only 4 sensors and 3 actuators, the simple robot has very few parts to maintain making an extremely reliable machine. For the sake of proving the power of these robots, the robots and blocks were built in parallel allowing the robots ability to move the foam blocks to not play a large role in the…

Computers and artificial agents become more and more sophisticated every year and more frequently involved in human’s everyday life. This increases the need to interact with them in a more natural way, similar to the way we interact with each other. Museum tour-guide robots (Nourbrakhsh, 1999) and robots that interact with the elderly (Montemerlo, 2002) demonstrate that we do not need robots just to interact with people, but also that there is a need for the interactions to be smooth and natural. Over the past few decades Emotion-sensitive Human-Computer Interaction has become a hot topic in many scientific papers on affective computing, a popular and innovative AI research area mainly in artificial intelligence which main goal is to develop…
