Ecuador is an amazing country with lots of history and heritage. The country is next made of three parts, la costa, la sierra, and la oriente. The la costa is the coast of Ecuador is the low west coast. La sierra is made up of volcanoes, mountain ranges, valleys and plains. La sierra is also referred to as the Andean Highlands Region. The la oriente is the Amazon region. These three parts of Ecuador make up big part of Ecuador’s geography. Bananas, flowers, cacao, rice, and plantains are all grown in Ecuador. My family lives a different lifestyle then how most people in Ecuador live. My parent’s drive me and my sister to the place we need to be rather than us taking public transportation everywhere we go. Most children in Ecuador walk, take a cab, or bus to school. We do both eat some of the same foods though we eat soup, rice and lentils, and lots of chicken and rice. One food that my family does no eat is “cuy” (Guinea pig) and Langostinos (Ecuadorian style Prawns). Cuy and Longastinos are both very popular food choices in Ecuador. Another comparison between most Ecuadorian families and mine is that we dress differently. In Ecuador the weather and climate is very different from the one here in Florida. Most children wear the average shorts and t-shirts and the summer and pants and jackets in the winter. Some Ecuadorians still wear long skirts, long sleeved blouses, and poncho’s and panama hats. These clothing help keep provide warmth for the people who live high up in the mountain ranges. With my family living in Florida we wear shorts and shirts most of the year and jeans and jackets in the winter time. Although my family’s lifestyle and other family’s lifestyles in Ecuador are different, my parents still keep our Ecuadorian roots in our everyday
