COLUMBIA
Columbia is located in northern South America, where it is bordered by the Pacific and Caribbean coastlines. Columbia is the fourth-largest country in South America, with a population of about 46 million people. The capital of Columbia is Bogota, which has a population of about 8 million people. The geography of Columbia shows that the country is also bordered by other South American countries, such as Panama, Venezuela, and Brazil. The Andes Mountains divides most of Columbia into high and lowlands, causing some of the population to live in mountain ranges that are isolated from cities. The capital, Bogota, is also located on a mountain.
Spanish is Columbia’s official language, but there are also Amerindian tribes who speak other languages. The literacy rate of Columbia is 93%, and the government provides education to the public. Education is free from preschool up to secondary school, and then students are supposed to choose a course of study they want or enroll into a technical school. One site to visit is the town of San Agustin. San Agustin is an ancient site of Columbia that includes the remains of a civilization no longer present today. There are many statues and stone carvings that were made thousands of years ago. Another interesting site to visit is Tayrona National Park. In Tayrona, they have the most beautiful beaches in Columbia, as well as deep bays and palm trees. It is one of the popular sites to visit in Columbia, and people go there to enjoy nature by snorkeling, hiking and encounter native animals. And lastly, the capital of Columbia, Bogata, is another interesting site to visit.
