Legends, Myths, and Fairy Tales are an ideal art of every culture. Folklore tells the historic stories and background to every culture. Legends, the ancient tales of famous men and women who protect and serve their country doing famous deeds. Myths, historical humans or demi-gods who take down evil creatures to save the world. Fairy Tales, the stories every person knows are fiction but are told for children and young adults. Italian folklore is rich in history and the arts. Italian folklore uses love and family to teach lessons for life. The values of family, literature, and love are the backbone for Italian cultural folklore. Legends, Myths, and Fairy Tales would all be lost with the absence of oral tradition. Folklore and oral tradition rely on each other to get a Legend across a culture to make a culture a culture. Without legends and myths, a culture wouldn't be a culture. The crime of Honor: Crippled John and Handsome Paolo. The Legend of Alaric's Treasure. This story is about two men who are deeply in love with women, Francesca. Handsome Paolo and Crippled John fight for the love of their life. "Love, that denial takes from none beloved."From the story (Crippled John and Handsome Paolo). Alara a Knight who took over the city of Rome from the evil leader Cosenza. When he took the City over he had a great treasure from capturing the city. "Not all legends are true", From the story (Alaric's Treasure.) This story is based on trickery and deception between brothers. His treasure hasn't been uncovered yet, his treasure holds the truth to his death and why he died. They show how Italian folklore reflects on literature, arts, and family in their culture. Love is evident in the story Crippled John and Handsome Paolo. In the story The Legend of Alaric's Treasure, family and adventure are evident in this story. Paolo and John were actually brothers. Paolo deceived his brother by marrying his true love, Francesca. A story of impurities and hardship for the reader to connect to the hero for a real life standpoint. It tells a story to the reader of how nobody's perfect but can still be great at whatever they please. The legend of Alaric's treasure is the closest to a hero's journey for he conquers the evil king over Italy and freed the city of crime and despair. It tells a story of how a poor man saw an opportunity to help out the city he loved and saved the city through all of his hardships. It shows the reader that even if you think your life is horrible, you can make greatness.
All of the characters have similar goals and go through mostly the same hardships. They demonstrated culture for they are the stepping stones of the culture. The way Italians talk, act, and join in groups of gangs is shown in their culture
