News is a nonstop 24/7 reel of stories and events which tends to make people feel a certain way about their society. This has a big effect on those who were forced to leave their place of birth. This also makes it hard on them to be able to attend schools and make new friends; because of the trauma, danger and scariness that they have gone through. Meaning: this has the power of the concept of living in a different society and attending different schools is a complex one. According to Beverly Daniel Tatum, who wrote The Complexity of Identity introduced us to the real definition of identity and how it affects individuals; “Who am I? The answer depends in large part on who the world around me says I am.” The identity of a refugee’s person is shaped by the theory of the way that their new adopted society views them. The beginning of the class was challenging to me, because I as a refugee, had that thought of I knew everything about refugees and there is nothing that I need to learn. But, after taking this class I found that there are a lot to be learned. One specific tool that I will use for my future life when I am communicating to others is to take in consideration their cultural background, their identity statues and weather they are from the dissimulation fact or acculturation. This will play a big role when talking to them or addressing an issue/topic with them. I have always said and will always say that to be a teacher is to be able to communicate to all kind of people and as a communication major, I am a teacher when I am communicating to peers at work or to my family at home. This class has also helped me to develop new ideas, thought and perspectives. It also gave me the sense and the experience of how to deal with the real professionals throughout my community project
