The courses that did pertain to my workplace were not much of a great assistance. In the courses at school, there is mostly theories and rules discussed, but not much of hands-on training is provided in terms of how documents are prepared and how they are served. Never the less, it took time for Mr. Brady and myself to understand each and get used to each other’s ways. In the list included writing skills, job knowledge, and time management. The difficult with my writing skills, in terms of my work placement, was a miscommunication between myself and Mr. Brady. Mr. Brady’s last assistant worked for him for the last ten or so years and as such she was accustomed to his ways and understood the difference between what Mr. Brady said and what he meant. As a new employee, I was not accustomed to his way and this caused a communication problem between us. In his dictations, Mr. Brady would go through his normal dictation with expectation that I understood what he meant or was implying. This caused a problem in my writing skills because I would type what he was saying but not what he was
