The mythology kind of has a pyramid shape, with Mother Earth Gaea and Father Heaven being Uranus. They had 12 children which were know as the Titans. There was 6 boys and 6 girls. History says that Uranus didn't like his spawn and he exiled them into Gaea (Earth). Mother Earth was angry and wanted revenge on Uranus, so she gave her son Cronus a weapon to do the dirty work for her. Cronus castrated his father Uranus while he was asleep and that is how Heaven became separated from Earth.
Due to Cronus' actions, he became ruler of the overworld, he made his sister Rhea his wife and they had six kids. Cronus didn't want to be bested by his children so he swallowed them in order to secure his power. Rhea was not happy with that and saved one of
