Everyone will need a visit to their doctor at one time or another. The purpose of this paper is to critique this author’s personal experience at her last doctor’s visit. This physical assessment will be based on health promotion, health prevention, and comfort to this author. It will include how the environment was, what was discussed, and the measures used during the visit.
Environment of Doctor’s Office
The first thing that I encountered was the reception area. The waiting area was clean, welcoming, and comfortable. There was soothing colors and comfortable chairs to sit in. After changing back into my clothes, I sat down in the chair provided. My provider came back into the room and we discussed my lifestyle, nutrition and exercise regimen. Patients educated about the essential role they play in decision making and be given effective tools to help them understand their options and the consequences of their decisions (Bowling, 2014). Recently, I had changed my eating and exercising habits to lose weight. My provider and I reviewed the current plan and made adjustments together to further help me to continue this journey. My doctor uses health promotion and prevention to help me understand the importance of healthy living. “Physicians may be able to improve care for their obese patients by focusing discussions on specific details of diet and physical activity behaviors, and by clarifying that patients perceive weight-related information has been shared” (Chapman, 2009). My provider is very knowledgeable and seems to want me to succeed in this endeavor. I feel that there is no judgement from my doctor and this allows me to discuss issues that concern
