Who is the speaker of this poem? Explain how you know.
A son or daughter of a father, a teen “Sundays too my father got up early”
What is the focus of each stanza? Stanza 1: son or daughter shows how his/her father works hard. The father get up early during the week to work, his family takes it for granted/expect him to take care of things
Stanza 2: speaker is waking up, his dad wakes him up and he gets up slowly trying to avoid getting up trying to avoid his dad and not arguing with him
Stanza 3: the speaker recognizes that the dad does thing for them, the speaker is recognizing the things the dad does for them and the family alone
Assonance: The repetition of similar vowel sounds in a sentence or a line of poetry
