In these cases, they are required to determine which ones are related or committed by a serial killer. Once they find a case they are going to accept, they work with the local authorities to gather additional information to build a profile. A profile takes into account the method of the previous murders, the type of victim, the location, and various other factors to identify a pattern. A serial killer will typically employ the same methods to kill similar victims in a relatively small geographic area. The team pulls all the clues together in an effort to understand the criminal and what motivates him or her to do what they do. They build a profile of the individual based on their actions and patterns. They are able to gather a tremendous amount of information regarding the unidentified subject or “unsub” and present the profile to the local authorities. They apply the profile to predict the criminal’s next move and develop a strategy to capture them. When the team develops a profile they often alert the public by giving details of the case at a press conference. With some research I found that this show shares various similarities with the actual BAU. This series is full of action and interesting cases; however, it is obviously far-fetched at times. Directors and producers often stretch the truth to increase their number of viewers. Sometimes as a result the characters and situations seem to be more significant and glorious than real life. Overall Criminal Minds is extremely engaging and is one of my favorite shows on television today. It provides the viewer with many unique qualities that make the series extremely amusing. The show is full of deeper meanings displayed by quotes at the beginning and end of each episode. Even though these individuals do not have as of an exciting career as displayed in the show, I have a tremendous amount of respect for the work they accomplish. Profiling is a vastly skill intensive job that requires many years of education and experience. Most profilers start off with law enforcement entry level positions and work their way up to profiling following extensive education and training. They have proven themselves as one of the best detectives upon receiving the honor and title of profiler. They dedicate their lives and skills to capturing criminals that are a threat to society. Without this hard work, devotion and sacrifice the world would be a much scarier
