Creative Writing: The Murderer

Heels clicked against the cold concrete sidewalk and the sound of the bass from three different bars on the same block, were pounding so loud the sounds could make anyone get the chills. She was on a mission that night. She was supposed to do something for a dealer she desperately wanted to please. But with the clicking of her heels and the pounding of the music she could feel her hands start to shake and her mind was scrambled. Her name was Amy and she had one job. She was supposed to “get even” with three men who owed her dealer money. She had never considered her life turning to that action but when her body started to burn and crave she felt as if she had no option other than to go through with it. She thought of her children, though she never saw them anymore she still wondered what they would say in that situation. Her mind began to wander and her steps slowed down. The music seemed to stop as she saw the man she was meant to “get even” with. He had greasy hair, a dirty shirt and ripped jeans. He wore no shoes and he was staggering towards a car that had multiple tickets sticking from underneath the windshield wiper. Her hands shook and she wondered if that was the correct thing to do. She could always get clean. That could have been the moment where she turned her life around. But her body made her move. Her vision was blurry and her chest was hurting the entire time. She walked over towards the man who hadn’t noticed her. When she got close enough she could smell the jack and cokes that seemed to be absorbed into his entire being. It was a familiar scent, one she had breathed for days and days. However now that it smelled like rotting and decaying garbage. It nearly made her vomit on the spot. But she didn’t. She moved forward the small knife that was in her hand quickly made its way into the man’s side. He gasped and groaned when the pain had finally hit him. He was too scared to even turn around, at least that’s what she believed. Even if he were to turn around, she wouldn’t have
