Creative Writing: The Kite Runner

The clock showed 11:30 p.m. Shakun took her diary out of her table drawer. She is about to shed her feelings out. She looked at her baby boy who was already fast asleep. “I don’t want anyone else to have a life where you are left alone in one fine morning” she wrote. Then, suddenly she stopped and turned the pages back. She ended at a page which read “Today I met him for the first time...” She couldn’t control, and that broke down into tears.
Shakun lives with her one year old baby boy near the woods. She is alone since her husband left home even before their child was born. They met for a friend’s wedding. “Hi, I am Darshan.” Shakun was attracted with his way of approach. She looked at him for some time and extended her hands for a hand shake.

He was sleeping peacefully. “Darshan is leaving to U.S today. I don’t know how I will manage to live alone in this place. Never after meeting Darshan, I was alone. I want to hold him back, but I can’t do it...” She remembers that day. Darshan left in the afternoon and Shakun was alone in their dream home. She looked at her ring. It was not her wedding ring but the one Darshan bought for her from Paris before their marriage. It had ‘S D’ engraved on it. That was his first gift for Shakun. She told herself, “He will be back”.
Two days later Darshan called and she had pleasant news for him. She was pregnant. “I am coming back in two days. Meeting got postponed.” Shakun was happy to hear that. “He is coming back...” She saw her own words in her diary. That was March 11.
Her baby started crying. She took him in her arms and patted him to sleep. The clock showed 12:30 a.m. Shakun remember that day, March 13. The day her life changed. The day she got call from Darshan’s office, “Mrs. Darshan, we are extremely sorry to inform you that your husband met with an accident in U.S. He will be taken to India tonight”. Shakun stood there all lost. She never thought of getting into a situation like this.
“We lost our son. I don’t want to see you. Please don’t create a problem here.” His parents ignored her. She didn’t get a chance to see him for one last time. She felt insecure at their home. But she decided to face her
