Cpost can be viewed both as a non-profit organization and a profit organization. There are several arguments for both sides. Cpost is an non-profit organization because in the world we live in the need for delivery services is vital for consumer purposes. Nowadays barely anyone physically steps out to buy electronics or other kinds of products (e.g. cell phones, blenders, hair trimmers and people even have the option to buy motor vehicles online today). That is one of the reasons Cpost is detrimental to most of the consumers today. Cpost did not become a valued company just because they deliver parcels. Post Nederland’s Antilles N.V. (PNA) was born. Under a granted concession that provided PNA an exclusive position for postal operations within the Netherlands Antilles, the company started off with a heritage of the former government postal service. Finally, on May 2nd 2003 (the actual transfer date) the second phase entered into force wherein the newly established operating company Nieuwe Post Nederlandse Antillen N.V. (NPNA) took over the operational management of NPA. NPNA is 100% owned by CPIL (Canada Post International, Ltd.), who has taken full commercial responsibility for its postal operations for the next twenty years. Starting on May 2nd 2003 the management of NPNA continued with the transformation process as already initiated by CPIL’s consultants during the preparatory (1st) phase. During the remaining eight months of that year the management succeeded in turning around a loss suffering company (almost one million ANG each month) into a profitable one. Up until 2010 NPNA concentrated its efforts for the greater part on the delivery of letter mail. This is an organizational structure that includes both line and staff positions and assigns authority from higher-level management to employees. Cpost uses besides the line and staff structure the narrow span of control, because every department has an manager who supervise just a few employees and because every employee of each department has different tasks.
