The CPA Horizons 2025 is a road to the future and it is a major step in the right direction by AICPA. The initiative has been on going for about a year and the professional body has come up with ideas on what’s the new big thing for CPAs to focus on and the accounting profession as a whole. CPA Horizons 2025 brings about insights from more than 75,000 comments from CPAs from all sectors of the accounting profession and to discuss what is at stake and challenges that will be faced in the years leading to 2025. Education is an important aspect in preparation of certification in this profession. Throughout one’s career, individuals should learn how to recreate or reinvent themselves. CPAs will have to evolve and technical accounting knowledge will not do it and hence CPA must develop different skills such as leadership, problem solving and must be business savvy. They have to be proactive in addressing the demographic shifts both nationally and internationally. The profession must continue to support and enhance programs that build awareness of the CPA profession to young audiences. The profession has to offer more opportunities for minorities groups in order to give more awareness to the profession.
