There are four different ethical lenses: Right/Responsibilities lens: is when the person does the right thing and fulfill their ethical responsibilities with careful care and concern for the other individual. This person is to be highly aware and self-managing as decisions are made. Relationship lens: this lens benefits the entire community or group by making sure all are treated with respect, fairness, and dignity. Results lens: this lens focuses on results and goals where the benefit of the individual action outweighs the cost.…

My third goal is to use my experience as a course assistant in my first year to observed the inner cogs of running a course and teaching styles in order to build my own ability to organize a successful class as well as my own pedagogy theories. By grading and thus experiencing two divergent courses, of opposite sizes, and different course levels, I realized the various nuances of how to teach, organize, and handle class policy. It also affirmed the difficulty of teaching and my need to learn more. Simply observing two courses is not enough experience to state that I am a capable teacher. Demonstrating that I can function as an assistant in undergraduate courses will be a vital addition to my CV, but it will also demonstrate a finer level of…

Prior to having any classroom teaching experience I always felt that a good educator would have to constantly adjust to the needs of their students in order to be effective. My fall student teaching placement only reinforced this belief, I can almost say that I underestimated this belief. My placement site was Mott Hall II, a public middle school serving grades 6-8 on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I learned to like the location of my placement site really quickly, I had a great appreciation for the area 's diversity which was reflected in the student body of my placement school. As a teacher this diversity definitely impacted the way I interacted with my students.…

When I delivered the teaching session, the experience was an overall success with students showing a clear interest and engaging in the lesson (Table 1, question 10, mean 4.3). The teaching began with a clear introduction to the key learning points for the whole session (Table 1, question 5, mean 4.3), which allowed the students to understand what the session was going to entail. This was beneficial to those who needed to see the big picture to see how topics fit together[1]. I further explained that the session will be split into three sections and explained that certain learning outcomes will be covered in each section. Student feedback stated that there was “enthusiastic teaching in appropriate sized teaching bites.”…

For the final course deliverable, I attended a free health care seminar /workshop/ conference/webinar or professional association meeting. On March 30, 2016, the Kaiser Permanente Learning (KP Learn) department offered a seminar based on the book and educational series by Dr. Steven R Covey, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The seminar was held at the Kaiser Permanente Franklin Medical Office from 8am to 5pm. I chose to go to this seminar as they are a good way to network with others in the same field that want to learn and share perspectives that are related to the topic.…
