According to the New York Times (2004) “On September 9, 1993, Christopher Simmons, 17, and Charles Benjamin, 15, broke into a trailer south of Fenton, Mo., just outside St. Louis. They woke Shirley Ann Crook, a 46-year-old truck driver who was inside, and proceeded to tie her up and cover her eyes and mouth with silver duct tape. They then put her in the back of her minivan, drove her to a railroad bridge and pushed her into the river below, where her body was found the next day. Simmons and Benjamin later confessed to the abduction and murder, which had netted them $6.” Simmons was tried, found guilty, and received the death penalty.…

National Junior Honor Society is a great opportunity for me! I have been dreaming to be in this society ever since the end of fifth grade. I would love to be involved in NJHS and share my suggestions and listen to other people’s ideas. I am very passionate to help those in need. For an example, I have donated many foods, clothing, utensils, and more to Vietnam and to the victims of Hurricane Harvey.…
The National Honor Society is an organization that acknowledges and congratulates students with high educational standings and certain characteristics. NHS looks for people with traits such as leadership, people who are outgoing in their community, and people with a great quality of character. If I am selected to be in this group, I would contribute to the growth of NHS by spreading information about what NHS is to other students and teachers. Before I got this application, I didn’t even know what NHS was and what you do once you are in it. I want other people to know the importance of this group and how it can look good not just for when you apply to colleges, but to yourself as well.…
Throughout my life I have always tried to be the best person I could possibly become. From having perfect grades to being any sports team MVP. I have grown up with the phrase, “The harder you work, the better you do,” engraved into my head. My dad told me this after school, after sports, and after I finish anything i did. I work hard for my grades and that has ended me here.…
I am deeply honored to be among the exemplary students who are being considered for the National Honor Society. I recognize that for one to be accepted into the National Honor Society, they must display effective leadership, selfless service, desire for scholarship, and honorable character. Furthermore, my mother has influenced how I live my life through her selfless acts of service for others. My mother, Karen Darwin, raised four children to become men today. In addition, my mother decided to return to college to earn her bachelor’s degree to become a registered nurse.…
I, Jessica Fagan am a profoundly honored to be among the exemplary students who are being considered for the National Honor Society. I must admit that I have aspired to become a member of the National Honor Society since the beginning of my highschool career. I am a well rounded student that successfully balances academics and extracurricular activities such as music, athletics, and extra math courses. I believe that I show qualities of scholarship, leadership, character, and service. My accomplishment of a 96.72 average in my 9th grade year has motivated my peers and encourages their academic success as well as my own.…
I am honored to be one of the many student selected to be apart of the National Honor Society. Over many year I have really been looking forward to this opportunity. The National Honor society does great things in society and i believe that if i'm apart of Nation Honor Society, I will be able to share my ideas and opinions to help others in our society. I want to be a leader, follower, and learner. I believe Nhs will give me opportunity to become all of these.…
Joining the National Honors Society is a great opportunity for anyone looking to excel in life. The N.H.S. was established to recognize students with good qualities in leadership, character, and service. In addition to this the N.H.S. helps students recognize their potential and helps them become more involved in their communities. I think I would be a good addition to the National Honor Society because I am hardworking, reliable, and determined. I would also like to join because education is very important to me , and the N.H.S. can help me later in life when planning for college.…
The National Honors Society is a wonderful opportunity for me, both as a student and a person. I strongly believe that the true purpose of the National Honors Society is to identify and recognize students who have shown great ability in scholarship, leadership, character, and service. As an NHS member, I will not only continue in building my strengths in being a leader as well as showing great character, but excel in every other aspect shown in great students. I have played the role of a leader as quarterback for my football team from seventh grade to sophomore year.…
Community is important to me. I grew up in a small town where you knew your neighbors, and chances were that you lived down the street from at least one of your teachers. Where every summer Saturday, the entire block would meet in somebody’s backyard- a fire would be lit, and all of us kids would roast marshmallows and hotdogs, and play on the wooden swing-set, playing out stories and adventures. My community wasn’t just a place where I lived and went to school- it was a family.…
I believe that I would be a good member of the National Honor Society, for many reasons. The main reason is the fact that I am a member of the Washington City Youth Council, so I know what kind of commitment this would take and am willingly to make that commitment. I have been on the Washington City Youth Council for 2 years and am currently on the executive board. The executive board gives me more responsibility than being on the regular council and I have been able to learn much more. Being on the Washington City Youth Council has shown me I can work well with all types of people.…
Americans saw a drastic social change in the years immediately following World War II. Young women sought out help and support from major magazines, specifically Seventeen Magazine in the years 1946 and 1947. Both teenage girls and young women were the targeted audience, and though they were close in age, their social interactions and fashion senses were on separate ends of the spectrum. In a Seventeen ad. published in 1947- the company influences it’s audience to invest in their new “natural” makeup that men will love.…
The rack where i went looked like it was organized by ages because on one side it had all teenagers and then to adult like cooking magazines and cars or sports. I found all sorts of magazines i found cooking, sports, cars, fitness and tenagers magazines. What i observed of people picking up magazines was that some would go just to see and others would go and buy a magazine If it was an elder man he would pick up sports or cars and if it was an elder woman she would pick up magazine with beauty tips and or cooking magazines and teenagers would pick up magazines with their favorite celebrity The elder man bought a sports magazine and the elder woman bought a celebrity magazine like People I bought TEENVOGUE Body Beautiful , I purchased it at wal-mart , typical…
