Cosmetology is the study or practice of face, hair and nails. As a cosmetologist, you have to go threw beauty school. Beauty schools usually have you study all three unless you go for specifically go to a school just for one branch of cosmetology. Depending on what type of beauty schooling you go into, schooling could take up to 3 years. In this paper, I will be talking about the financial issues of owning a salon, the type of training you need, the appliances you’ll need for running a salon and how to figure out how to work the payments for each employee.
To begin with, you need to complete your training as a cosmetology student. You will have to complete 1250 hours in the state of Pennsylvania. Hours vary from state to state. The 1250 hours

This means you completed all your hours and skills. There are a few requirements to be able to take the state boards. One of them would be you have to of 16 years of age. Another example is you have to complete the tenth grade. Another requirement is you have to have finished your hours 8 months of starting a day-time student. Or another option is finishing your hours 15 months of starting as a night-time student. From the start to finish, your hours and skills, you then can work on a temporary license for nine months and nine months only.In order to take your state boards, you first have to pass a recently passed law of a background check to see if you’re eligible to pass have a criminal history. If you then pass that, you then can schedule your state boards. You may take your boards as many times as it takes to pass the boards, but you do have to pay to take them each and every …show more content…
Anywhere from sheers to color, here is some of the items you need to run a successful salon. Besides just combs, hair dryers and brushes, there is much more you need. Depending on what type of brand of hair care you choose, you should go with the same type of color you will be using in a salon. Up at the Career Center, we use matrix for everything from shampoos and conditioners right down the permanent wave solutions. Although the prices are a little high for my liking, Most people are extremely pleased with the results from every product they provide. Matrix hair color can run anywhere from 5 dollars a 3 ounce tube to 15 dollars. It is mainly the unnatural colors like blue, violet, etc that run a little bit more expensive than the natural colors. Most of the natural colors aren’t as popular with teens and young adults. Another item you need to run a salon is a set or two of a hair cutting scissors also know as shears. Shears will get highly expensive. My aunt paid almost 200 dollars just for one set of shears. Anyone would agree that paying that much for a set of shears is a bit much, but they can last up to a year or two without having to be sharpened. The lowest amount you can pay for a pair of shears is the 10 dollar ones you can buy at Walmart. Now, back to the sharpening of the shears.
