The Count of Monte Cristo is an excellent movie, displaying revenge and forgiveness. The movie takes place in the 1800’s, during the ruling of Napoleon. Counties were still extremely secretive with the way they did things, and treason was a huge thing. The setting takes place in the nineteenth century of France in large and populous cities. This was a time of great disruption. There was confusion all over the land to who led France. Was it King Louis or Napoleon? “In 1814, the French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte was exiled to the island of Elba of the coast of Italy, Fearing an attempt to rescue him his British captors would shoot anyone who came ashore.” (1:10). In 1815, Edmond Dantès, second mate of a French trading ship, and his friend Fernand Mondego, a representative of the shipping company, go to the Island of Ebla …show more content…
Being fed hardly anything as well as being whipped. He even tried hanging himself during the time he was a prisoner there. For nothing, he was never a traitor that he was saw ought to be. After Dantes and the priest are digging and the tunnel begins to collapse, killing the priest. Dantes is able to hide in the body bag used to get rid of the priest. When He is flung off the cliff and ends up killing the man in charge by drowning him. Dantes manages to swim to a nearby island and is not so pleasantly greeted by a group of smugglers and is forced to knife fight a man for his survival. He ends up talking his way out of it and both men survive and become good friends. Finding the treasure that the priest had told Dantes about. Dantes uses this gold and riches to become richer than Fernand. When Dantes returnes as the rich Count of Monte Cristo, he seeks revenge on the 3 men that were responsible for him being locked up for 13 years. Everyone loves him and seeks his friendship.
