Corporate Stereotypes In Schools

Decent Essays
Corporate ads can be found in almost any situation. From billboards and commercials to now advertising in schools and on students’ uniforms, there had been a debate on whether or not those companies are having too large of an impact on students. Should schools allow corporate ads to help fund different things for their students?
We all know that running a school takes a lot of money and to help schools become better at educating kids, they need even more money. Sometimes they don’t have enough and need some help. This is where big corporations come in, they offer money, with some advertising of their brand, to help. This shouldn’t be considered a bad thing either.
Whether it’s to build a library or fund a sports team, it will benefit students

Finance Due to the lack of student attendance, the amount of funding from sponsorships has been negatively affected with average annual donations at only $60,000. As a nonprofit organization, Western Athletics relies on sponsors and donors; an unreliable and unpredictable source of money. As a result, Morton has budgeted $10,000 towards advertising events to boost student attendance with the goal of securing a price increase of $7 per student from sponsors. Although Morton wishes to use the whole marketing budget, it is still concerning as Morton will need to limit the number of promotional initiatives as the budget is relatively small to establish an effective marketing campaign. In addition, Western Athletics is currently able to generate enough revenue to cover event expenses (See Exhibit 1).…

This strengthens the overall argument he's making because he's talking about the ads distracting students from their school work, which is wrong because that's what they're at school for. To learn, not to be persuading by an ad to buy something. Aside from the ads taking away from schoolwork, Dave makes a few other points as well. In paragraph to two he says, "The constant push to "buy, buy, buy" is not good for anyone- children or adults. But it seems especially wrong to force this commercial culture on kids at school."…

Bernie Sanders is a sassy old man and enemy to Donald Trump, a headstrong and unapologetic democrat, and a favorite among millennials. In 2016, he ran for president and competed for the coveted democratic nomination against the now-president Donald Trump, which he lost to Hillary Clinton. Being a 75 year old man who repels nearly every right wing associated person, it is at first confusing as to why so many young voters were attracted to him until his educational platform is brought forward. One of his main promises to the U.S. was to eradicate student debt attributed to college and to make higher education free. Upon hearing this, thousands of people, most of who were in college, immediately sided with Bernie, desperate to have their debt…

“In the US, the average child watches an estimated 16,000 television commercials a year. And, while US children are among the world’s most avid consumers of advertising, the effect of television on children is a concern for parents across the globe” (Watson, 2017). Advertising is hard to avoid it is everywhere for a child to be exposed to. Advertising in schools and to children in general raises ethical issues. We all know college is very expensive and yet college is full of amenities that entice students to want to spend their four years after high school there. The problem is that more and more students are unable to afford the high cost of education. They should also consider cutting back on their salaries and the salaries of their professors to help make sure students can afford to be well educated so that they are ready to enter into the real world and start a career.…
