Introduction
Sustainability is a process defining a system remain diverse and productive. Sustainability in campus is becoming a modern topic, more and more university campus aims to reach and maintain a sustainable campus. Universities’ campus is a dynamic system allows resource in such as electricity, water, natural gas and allow their associated waste out. In order to make campus a greener place to study and live, Cornell University has committed several team to make process on sustainability throughout its campus. The focused area they committed on are building, energy, transportation and water.
Finding and Discussion
Building
First of all, the campus committee a Building Focused Team to lead cooperation between academic staff, students and the public. Majority of the academic activities and sports take place inside of buildings such as classrooms, auditoriums, engineering labs as well as stadiums. In order to build a green campus, the team works towards build sustainable constructions. To achieve goals, all construction personnel keep sustainability in mind, they use durable construction materials, and build construction with regular testing. There are over twenty- thousand students and staff, Cornell University accounts for 0.1 percent of the overall electricity use of New York State. University’s commitment to energy system has achieved university a high-effective pioneer in pursuit of both energy consumption and renewable energy supply. Strategies to continuing supply electricity is to apply wind force, water, and solar energy to replace traditional coral combustion motor; as a result, newer power system encourages the development of sustainable energy and nearly eliminate the poison gas
