Controversy: Nature Vs. Nurture

Nature vs Nurture There is always been a large controversy over whether our environment or genetic make-up effects our behavior, ability, personality and development. Nature vs. Nurture is known as most recognized controversy. Some people might believe it is our genes that effects our life, but others might believe it’s our environment we live in affects us and there are some people that believe both facts influence human behavior. In the article, posted on Moodle, Adrian Riane states that criminal behavior is based on biological factors. He argues that one of the principal reasons why we have been so unsuccessful in preventing adult crime is because crime control policies have systematically ignored the biological side of human behavior. On the other side, in the same article, Professor Jeffrey H. Reiman believes that social forces create the conditions that become sources of crime in our American society. We become or adopt criminal behavior due to time, our environment, social statues, and family. We learn behaviors as we grow up. In order to fix criminal behaviors, I think we should increase treatment facilitates and programs for juveniles and more punishment and fines for adults. I came into the United States in 2001. I learned good amount of information as am majoring here in criminology; I learned that criminals have more freedom and laws to defend them than our law enforcement. I don’t even see a proper balance between law enforcement and citizens freedom. Freedom is only good to clean citizens and those never commit crimes. I don’t think so crime will decrease unless new rules are made to help law enforcement to work their way and limits are also important, but not too
