In the book, “Control: Exposing the Truth about Guns” Glenn Beck expresses his position on the Second Amendment by using a tremendous amount of statistical data and facts about guns and gun violence. Beck is a well known conservative, radio host, author, television network producer, and entrepreneur who rigorously opposes gun control in America. In the United States, there are plenty of individuals who believe that there should be some sort of prevision on weapons especially military style rifles. Supporters of gun control note that the government can implement laws to control the distribution of guns without infringing upon citizens right to bear arms. Beck’s thesis is to inform his audience the importance of having guns in order to protect one’s freedom, liberty, and from becoming a victim of a gun related crime.

Controllist notes that citizens do not need semi-automatic weapons in their homes because they are essentially killing machines, which are necessary to own. In order to debunk this argument, Beck gives brief stories in which homeowners across the country have successfully defended their homes from multiple intruders. I believe that having these scenarios strengths Beck’s position because it taps into the audiences emotions and allow them to envision themselves in life threatening situations. Beck is thorough with supporting his thesis, but is extremely bias towards his position on gun control.
