Chapter 8, Professional Competence and Training, discusses the importance of continuing education in the helping profession. In my opinion, the engagement of professionals in ongoing education is critically important in the field of psychology because it is essential that professionals stay current and in compliance with the changes in laws and regulations, and advancements. Over time, new trends of effective procedures occur as well as changes in laws and ethics which may potentially result in competence levels to diminish among practitioner’s.
