At Nick’s house, where Gatsby wanted to see Daisy, Gatsby sent over flower, silver utensils and cups for tea. He wanted to make a good impression on Daisy. When sat down for a while to wait for Daisy to come, Gatsby gets anxious and nervous after waiting just for a while. “The flowers were unnecessary, for at two o’clock a greenhouse arrived from Gatsby’s, with innumerable receptacles to contain it, and Gatsby, in a while flannel suit, silver shirt, and gold-colored tie, hurried in. He was pale, and there were dark signs of sleeplessness beneath his eyes”( Fitzgerald 84-85). Gatsby was not like this before. Now that he has money, he shows it off to gain good impression. He brings all the flowers to the tea at Nick’s house to show Daisy that he has a lot of money. He hopes that Daisy will like him because now he has power and money. Then he brings Daisy and Nick to his house to show them his huge house. “‘I want you and Daisy to come over to my house ,’ he said, ‘I’d like to show her around.’[...] ‘That huge place there?’ she cried. ‘Do you like it?’ ‘I love it…”’(Fitzgerald 90-91). Gatsby shows how big of a house he has, showing how materialistic he has become. He was not the old Jay Gatsby he used to be. Daisy is not used to this Gatsby. She wouldn’t leave Tom for someone she does know that
