My sentence for Steve would be community service, probation ,and home confinement. In the state of Ohio a third degree felony is punishable with a 1-5 year prison term and the maximum fine is $10,000. However, considering that Steve has no criminal record he would not get as harsh as a sentence if he did have a criminal record. I would give Steve more of a stern sentence because hazing seems to be a big issue on the campus. If complete leniency is given other people might continue to haze because they are not really getting punished.…

In today’s society we are introduced to many problems that are always put to the side and is never taken care of because people are so in denial and don’t want to face the truth. In the simpsons intro the writer uses satire( the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues) to explore the flaws of society through his made up fictional characters. Some issues that I have come to a realization are the fact that parents in this century are not paying enough attention to their children and holding them fully responsible for their own actions. In other words children are doing whatever they please with no care whatsoever in the world because they know that there is no consequences for their actions. This also causes these children and teens to misbehave in class which leads to a distraction that takes away learning from kids whom parents actually send them to school to learn.…

It has been widely known that Congress writes very vague statutes in order to keep the political process going, and to keep the balance with in the legislation. Out of this vagueness the Courts have created a framework for both Congress and the agencies to create said policies. This framework is quite extensive and allows for the public to make comments on public policies that will affect them. The non-delegation doctrine basically states that Congress can’t detail every facet and fact of federal activity, but that they must lay down and an intelligible principle for the administrative agencies to follow. In J.W. Hampton, Jr. & CO. v. U.S. the Supreme Court accounted that Congress can’t detail every facet of federal activity, but must lay…

Throughout the semester, we have repeatedly discussed statistics regarding current crime and incarceration rates. In comparison to previous rates, from earlier decades, it is clear that society’s viewpoint on crime has changed significantly. Beginning in the early 1970s, the United States initiated a more punitive criminal justice system (1). In The Punishment Imperative, authors Todd R. Clear and Natasha A. Frost created a concept for the reasoning behind this mass incarceration. Referred to as the “Punishment Imperative,” its basis for reasoning focused on the symbolic image that crime held in society; meaning, as crime rates grew, the societal fear for basic safety began to emerge.…

If so, does that mean it is okay for a smaller amount of people to suffer for the greater good? The following Antecedent-Behavior-Consequences (ABC) Chart has been prepared for Jackson K. Direct observation was done during his Integrated Algebra 1A class to complete the ABC chart. The purpose was to identify “environmental and contextual variables that support challenging behavior” (Chandler and Dahlquist, 70). There are some consequences that are often related to appropriate and challenging behaviors, some desirable and others not. Unfortunately, oftentimes students that engage in challenging behaviors are removed from the learning environment. This is not helpful because the function of this behavior is avoidance and so the behavior is successful from the student’s perspective.…
