For one to be great, one must live a life most people can not relate to. One great such man is the Anglo-Saxon hero, Beowulf. Beowulf lived a life that consisted of war and victories. Someone similar, Jesus, lived a sinless life that no one else can ever claim. Both Beowulf and Jesus are important to the world and their time. Jesus and Beowulf walked a pathed that not only showed their significance, but also showed their elevated status among their people.

Beowulf not only shows Christianity in the main battles of his life but also shows his pagan belief. The poem, Beowulf, states, “Now he discovered--once the afflictor Of men, tormentor of their days--what it meant To feud with Almighty God” (50). This is Beowulf acknowledging that fighting with God on his side helped him defeat the monster Grendel. Although the poem portrays that beowulf could do it all on his own, he recognizes that he needs God dismight the strength he was born with. During the battle with Grendel's mother, Beowulf fought a battle that wasn't as easy as he thought. Beowulf found himself losing at one point when “she ripped And tore and clawed at him, bit holes in his helmet”(Beowulf 53). During the battle with Grendel, Beowulf seemed to have no problem defeating him. Do to the mother putting up a better fight, Beowulf turns to God once again for the return of his strength. The Poet states, “And Holy God, who sent him victory, gave judgement For truth and right, Ruler of Heavens, Once Beowulf was back on his feet and fighting”(Beowulf 53). He shows that Beowulf relied on God for his strength to return to him showing, without God, he would not have been able to stand back up on his feet and fight the rest of the battle. He was killed for doing everything right. Jesus was beat, carried his own cross, and stabbed during his crucifixion. Jesus’s death affected everyone that followed him and looked after him. The symbol of remembrance for Jesus was the cross that he was crucified on. Today, the cross represents Jesus’ life and the death that came with it. The significant thing about Jesus is that he didn't stay dead, he resurrected after three days. Jesus states, “You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself” (Matthew 27:40). He continues to warn his people and give His followers a way to eternal life through the
