Conflict theory involves the ongoing conflict between the dominant and the subordinate social groups; this theory is based around the idea of social inequality. It is the idea that our society is organized around inequalities that can only be overcome by significant transformation of social relations. The conflict model states that social inequality produces conflict in society that eventually leads to social change. It says that disadvantaged people are denied the chance to equal opportunity and denied the opportunity to reach full potential, thus fall victim to oppression and exploitation.
