Conflict could mean many things, conflict can be seen external and internal, such as the mental struggle of a person, such as opposing needs, wishes, or internal and external demands. Also, it could mean a strong disagreement between people, groups, and more that is mostly an angered argument too. Conflict could have many effects on a person, it could cause isolation, depression, problems at school, and ruin friendship. Conflict also have positive impacts, such as people building a stronger bond, becoming wiser, and even become more inspired. Everyone has conflict in their life and could overcome them, like Melinda Sordino in the book 'Speak' written by Laurie Halse Anderson. In August, Melinda went to a high school party with her friends Ivy, Nicole, and Rachel. Melinda got drunk and was not fully concentrated on her surroundings, she soon met an older guy in high school named Andy Evans. She started dancing with Andy and started to think that she would have a boyfriend in high school, but she soon realized she was wrong when Andy was raping her. She didn't feel safe and didn't know what to do, so she decided to call the police, but she remained silent. She didn't share that story to friends, family, or teacher because of many reasons, friendship, denial, afraid, and more reasons. She didn't want to believe that something horrible as rape happened to her, or she was afraid she'll be excluded by her friends, family, students in school if she accused Andy Evans for raping her. The conflict had many effects on Melinda and it was shown through external conflicts, when she started to cut and feel even more physical pain, and internal conflicts, such as her desires and feelings. Overall, the conflict had many effects on Melinda, her feelings ruined some of her friendships, she isolated herself, caused depression, caused problems at school by ditching and getting bad
