Introduction:
Confession as described in CCC#1423 is the sacrament of conversion, where Jesus Christ calls his people to repent in the form of penance. It is an act where a person offer themselves for the mercy of God by accepting their sins and asking forgiveness from the priest. The priest as appointed by Christ grants absolution and leads to satisfaction of one’s soul. Confession takes place because a person has committed sin or has done something wrong which is a burden for his conscious and subconscious mind. In order to clear ones conscious and get rid of the guilt, one may go for confession that ultimately provides peace and love of God.

Sign of repentance in The New Testament was expressed in the form of intense grief which led to rending and tearing of clothes, sackcloth and ashes. Fasting was also one form of mourning while repenting as mentioned in Luke 10:13 and Matthew 11:21. This prefigures the action of the priest when he raises his hand to give absolution during confession. 2 Corinthians 7:9 and 2-Timothy 2:25 also gives the sign of confession through repentance. Hence, the Gospel of Mark 15:1-5 and the Gospel of John 18:33-38 gives an account of the ‘good confession’ by Jesus Christ in front of Pontius Pilate where He acknowledges the truth about Himself. He reaches out to the conversion of the heart of the Pilate instead of defending Himself (John 18:37). Hence, Jesus Christ Himself confessed to the facts of His life publicly and received the grace of God and is seated at the right hand of The Father and will come again to judge the living and
