In the novel Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole there were many themes. For instance education, wealth, and laziness were just a few. The theme I would like to focus on was the theme about family. This novel was not very family oriented, everyone seemed to just argue all the time about the littlest things. No one really made an effort to get along it seemed like it was easier to just bicker. Mrs.Reilly was easily manipulated and really turned her back on Ignatius. Family did not really have each others back throughout the novel, especially near the end. Mrs. Reilly and Ignatius’s relationship was far from perfect. They were always arguing about something.
