Concrete Operational Thoughts: Film Analysis

These first five questions were asked to test Kimora’s ability to create concrete operational thoughts. It was designed for her to use her classification skills to come up with the correct answer. Kimora answered all questions with confidence, but was unable to understand that one set of object could contain another. She was able to see all three smiles, and two sunglasses, but only two pictures therefore the amount of pictures and sunglasses were the same amount.

Kimora’s answer for question six was to place the 3rd eye on her forehead, when I asked why she started telling me about the movie she watched with a monster that had three eyes. She pulled information from her past to help her answer the question. On question seven she was able to answer the question correctly without writing it down. The correct answer proves that Kimora can think logically and abstractly without having to use paper as symbols. Children under 11 struggle to do so as that requires abstract thinking abilities.

Kimora answered the question by saying the glass would break, and then stated that I gave her the answer in the beginning, however for the second question she stated the glass would not break though I gave her the answer in the beginning, this was because she was thinking logically and not going by the rules that were placed before the
