Introduction- This lab is based on the compound light microscope. “A compound light microscope is a microscope that allows light to pass through a specimen and uses two lenses to form a image”. The compound light microscope has two main lenses. The two main lenses are the low powered lens and the high powered lens. The low powered lens is 10x, while the high powered lens is 40x. In this lab you will learn how to hold your microscope and keep it safe, look at a prepared specimen, create a wet mount, and learn the magnification of the low and high powered lens. You will look over a prepared specimen and draw what you see in the low and high powered lens. Then you will create a wet mount , examine what you see, and draw it to see the differences between the two lenses. …show more content…
I hypothesized that the low powered lens would look at the specimen in a full view, while the high powered lens would look at the specimen with full details. My hypothesis points out that the low powered would be magnified to see the whole specimen closer but the high powered would be magnified to see the little details of the specimen up close. The purpose of the experiment is to see the difference between the high and low powered lens when experimenting and examining these specimens.
