Socrates, Herodotus, Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar. These are a few names that are known throughout history for their contributions to modern society. Rather it be in art, philosophy or war, modern society has been influenced one way or another by these men as well as the culture from that time period in history. Their concepts and ideas have been distributed into America’s culture and building practices. The architectural design of that era has also made its way into the very fabric of creativity in America’s building creations and architectural endeavors. Most mega churches are built in the shape and architectural design of the famous Colosseum that is located in Rome. In the textbook it is noted that religious services were sometimes held in their colosseum as well as other events. One of the most popular and most famous event was the Panhellenic Festival which was started in 776 BCE. (Fiero 42). It is better known today as The Olympic Games. In today’s modern world thousands of people gather at a specific time to watch men hit each other for an oblong pigskin ball (football) or watch men run up and down a court dribbling a circular/spherical ball to throw it into a circular hole (basketball) this to us who like sports is called entertainment. Complementary to our form of entertainment for sports the Roman and Greeks are in harmony with us with their love of live entertainment. The Romans and Greeks used their colosseums and theaters as a place to gather to watch gladiators fight, the Olympics, which included men competing against one another in different athletic events, theatrical performances and the reading of poetry accompanied by music. There is a specific design that is very noticeable when football, basketball and church arenas are being observed. That design is from the famous building called The Roman Colosseum that is located in Rome, Italy. It is very apparent in design and style that these modern arenas are skillfully mastered after the Roman
