According to Pauline Reay, music in film is a marketing tool. First one must acknowledge the interdependent relationship between music and film. The theme produced by a composer provides the audience background information such as the expected mood and relative themes to be found in the movie; while the film provides a platform for a composer’s work to be heard on a large scale. Once one acknowledges the interdependence, one then realizes that as technology advances, marketing technique changes and as a repercussion music in film transforms too.
