The Mesopotamia, which means the land between two rivers, is located between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. Mesopotamia began in southern Iraq in 5000 BC. The area didn’t have any residents till the two rivers were created. The Mesopotamia whole wealth came from those two rivers, which helped in farming and the health of the citizens. This early civilization formed down the lush fields of the Nile River. Protected by the water and desert, the civilization was able to grow into Egypt and surrounding colonies. The civilization was blessed with have a huge river like the Nile to support them. Just like the Sumerians, they used the river for a food source, water, and farming. Close proximity to the Nile allowed easy access to water needed for crops. If the river wasn’t virtuous enough, seasonal flooding fertilized the land for the next year's crops. Every spring, rains in this region send water racing down streams that feed the Nile River. It soaked the land with life-giving water deposited layer of rich silt, or soil.
