They both had electricity, house, etc.. taken away from them because they were struggling paying bills. In both stories the bank was the monster because if the bank didn’t profit from people then it took things away from them. Also both families had hopes of a better future but those hopes were crushed by the bank. The bank forced their employees to take things away from others because it was either that or they would lose their job. Both families lived confortable in the beginning but later in “Cinderella Man” depression struck and the family were struggling to keep up with all the bills. The family in the “The Grapes of Wrath” had their own land was doing well but they had a one bad period of time and the bank wasn’t profiting so they took the land away from them. All of their property was taken away from them and were left without anything. The bank is always hungry for more. The time it stops profiting, all the things will be taken away from you in a blink of an eye. Once they found their job and started living confortable, depression happened and they lost all of the belongings. Their hope for a better future was crushed into pieces. “I got to figure” the tenant said. “We all got the figure. There’s some way to stops this. It’s not like lighting or earthquakes.
