Job of a Lifetime Is there a job you would love to have for the rest of your life and not have to worry about it running out of use? There are over a million jobs in this world for you chose, but only one is perfect for you. There are certain colleges that only have classes for certain jobs. I want to be able to go to NFL to continue to play football, but if I don’t I will want to stay close with sports and to work with athletes. Since I want to stay close to sports, I have decided to research a Sports Medicine Physician. For this there are many responsibilities to learn to be able to take care of young athletes when they are injured (Sports). I want to be able to tell athletes how to take care of their injuries and stay safe (Sports). I believe that having a job that will last will help you in the long run and keep the money coming. When you start the occupation you choose you will gain many responsibilities and skills that you need to make sure you do during the day. There are many responsibilities that a SMP has to achieve in their life of work. In this occupation I will have to “refer athletes for specialized consultation, physical therapy, or diagnostic testing”(Sports). Which will be great because, ive been injured myself and know how bad it is. You will be taught how to achieve these goals and responsibilities when you go threw the class for this occupation in the college you choose. The idea I like the most about this job is that I can continue to be around sports and help young athletes in their daily lives (Summary). There are skills you will need to learn to help you succeed at everything you do everyday in your job. I will have to be able to “understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents”(Sports). I will also have to be able to “use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems”(Sports). Every job has responsibilities and skills that are specific to that occupation. To help prepare you for your future career you need to take classes that are given at your school. Your school should have a class or organization that you can take or be in to prepare you for that job. My high school has “Health Occupations Students of America is a national organization for students who are enrolled in Health Occupations Education. HOSA offers students the opportunity to develop leadership skills and job skills to be used in the world of work”(Durant). Most the classes i will be taking when i 'm a junior. You also need to find the right college that has the classes you need to major in that career. Colleges will have a different amount of years you will need to attend to earn a degree. “Formal education and training requirements for physicians are among the most demanding of any occupation—4 years of undergraduate school, 4 years of medical school, and 3 to 8 years of internship and residency, depending on the specialty selected. A few medical schools offer combined undergraduate and medical school programs that last 6 rather than the customary 8 years”(Sports). Health science 1 through 4, anatomy, and biology are some classes I can take to prepare me to …show more content…
When I started looking at a career that suits me, I did not look right at Sports Medicine Physician, I thought that the closest thing I could do to stay close to sports was a Physical Therapist. Then while I was researching a Physical Therapist I found a Sports Medicine Physician. During 2014 in Michigan there was a total of 347,200 Sports Medicine jobs open, and they project that there will be 145,100 more jobs to open between 2014-2024 (Sports). You might also look at the pay of the job to see if you will make the living you want to make. Every job has different pay for different ranks (Sports). The pay for a Sports Physician is rather good for what you do. If I major in this field I will make from $54,000 to $180,000 yearly, and $25 to $86 hourly (Sports).
