Comparing Two Dream Colleges

Improved Essays
UNC and Dartmouth are both my dream colleges. They are both very different, and deciding between them is extremely difficult. Both have things I love that I can’t get at the other, but they also have things in common as well. Thankfully, I have until high school to decide, but I want to compare important components such as academics, athletics, and cost. UNC and Dartmouth are similar in many ways. One of the ways they are similar are that they both have the sports I love including field hockey, swimming, and soccer. I love my sports, and I can’t imagine going without any of them in college. I also love that they both have many sports that I can watch and cheer on my team. Another way that makes Dartmouth and UNC similar are that at both places, the academics are marvelous. I want to have to push myself to be an outstanding student, so I can get stellar grades. Grades are very important to me. I mean, who doesn’t love a free dozen donuts for straight A’s report card? The last thing they have in common is that they both have …show more content…
One large difference is that while Dartmouth is and ivy league college, UNC is not. Ivy league means that the academics are outstanding and selective admissions. This is also why the acceptance rate at Dartmouth is so much lower than UNC. Dartmouth’s acceptance rate is only 10.5% while UNC has an acceptance rate of 26%. Unlike Dartmouth, I have family history at UNC. My grandfather George Browne, has a trophy in his honor for lacrosse as well as a scholarship. I have always wanted to play sports for both of these schools, but especially UNC. Another huge difference is cost. Since UNC is larger, and I would have in-state tuition, it would only cost me $24,630, while Dartmouth would cost $65,133 but, they are both worth it for how amazing both of the schools are. Dartmouth and UNC are both incredible schools with many differences, but that doesn’t stop me from loving them

One would think two land grant universities, both located in the central to western part of the United States would be similar. Surprisingly, that is not the case as Kansas State University and the University of Wyoming have few similarities. While K-State and UW are both exceptional colleges, with advantages and disadvantages for each school, UW outranks K-State based on the criteria of cost, academics and location. There are many similarities and differences found when comparing Florida State University and University of Central Florida. Despite having these differences, FSU is an overall better college. There are countless subjects to choose when comparing these schools, but the main topics I chose to focus on were the schooling overall, the people, activities, and my career. Indifference, FSU overall is statistically better. FSU is a slightly larger school with 60,767 students vs 41,226 students, given it's a larger school it's acceptance rate is much higher than UCF with a 55.4% versus 49.6%.…

The blacker the college, sweeter the knowledge. As kids, we see shows and movies such as A Different World and School Daze then imagine attending an HBCU being fun and adventurous. Not realizing and understanding the essence of having a place in the world where you can relate with people of different shades of melanin and personalities. The mission of an Historically Black College or University is to give blacks the opportunity of higher learning and allow them to graduate with multiple job lineups. From my perspective, an HBCU should make you feel more welcome than a PWI would, make you feel wanted and appreciated.…
