Comparing Roger Lancelyn Green's King Arthur And His Knights Of The Round Table

What if one of the world's most important people, Abraham Lincoln, for example, wasn’t dead but was just resting? Well, in Roger Lancelyn Green’s King Arthur and His Knights of the Round Table, King Arthur is alive and merely resting. There are several key pieces of evidence to support this theory. First of all, no one ever saw him dead. Second, Arthur said he would come back when Britain needed him. And third, there is a secret cavern where he rests and where a little shepherd boy once found him.
It is hard to prove there has been a death if there is no body. No one witnessed King Arthur’s death nor have they seen his corpse. When last seen, Arthur was alive. In the book it says, “Then the barge floated away into the mist and was lost at sight. But a strange low cry of mourning came over the waters until the sadness passed from it and it was lost in a quiet whisper beyond the distance” (p. 324), proving that as Arthur floated away he was still alive.
In addition, before King Arthur was sent away to Avalon in the barge, he said he would come back when Britain was in need of him. “...But be you sure that I will come again when the land of Britain is in need of me…” (p. 324). There is evidence in the text that he may still be alive. For one, he has never been seen dead. Also, before he left for Avalon, he vowed he would come back, and lastly, he was seen alive by a shepherd boy. Maybe it is a good sign that Arthur has not had to return to Britain, but someday if Britain is in terrible times perhaps another little boy or girl may stumble upon the cavern under the hazel tree and wake Arthur and the Arthurian legend will be

This major change in Arthur’s life happens in the span of a couple days and it is hard for him to adapt immediately. Before the destruction of the Earth, he was an ordinary Brit living on Earth. The transition from land to space had a large effect on Arthur’s life. “Arthur glanced around him once more, and then down at himself, at the sweaty disheveled clothes he had been lying in the mud in on Thursday morning. I seem to be having tremendous difficulty with my life-style,” he muttered to himself”.…

    Pop Fisher In The Natural

In “The Natural,” the character Pop Fisher is the coach and thus “king” of the “knights,” the ball team that the main character of the book joins and plays on. Furthermore, throughout the book he is mentioned to have a sort of athlete’s foot on his hands and that the Knight’s field also seems similar to a wasteland that would correspond with Pop’s hands’ condition, very similar to the “Tale of the Fisher King.” Other than his condition and relevance to the tale mentioned before, he is also known to be quick to judge, as he benches Roy for his first few games of being on the team, thinking of him as old and most likely not a good player. Moreover, Pop is also known to be bitter and sad because when he was a player himself he had made his team lose because of a “bad” ball. King Arthur is a well-known king from the well-known tale of “The Sword in the Stone,” but the variation depicted in “Once Upon a Time” is not that.…

The last lesson he learned as a merlin was tough times do not last, tough people do. When he endures the initiation to become part of the regiment and he has to do something dangerous, “‘I will stand by the Colonel Madam’… The ordeal was over and the Wart might fly” (White 75-76). This quote shows Arthur learned because even though standing by Colonel was dangerous, because he was mentally unstable, he did it anyways to be part of the regiment. This transformation was one of the hardest for Arthur and the next ones would not be as…

In Green Knight and Arthur there are many time where the knights in the story show chivalry. There are other people such as Markman rejects mythic or supernatural interpretations of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, suggesting instead that the poem focuses on "its human hero" as an exemplar of virtue and achievement as opposed to the view of chivalry. In the beginning of Green Knight we see that Gawain has shown chivalry when he chooses to take the place of Arthur. In the end of Green Knight we see chivalry with Gawain keeping his word with the Green Knight.…
